
Asma Naheed obtained her Masters in Educational Psychology with the major in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University, Virginia, USA. In 2008, she received her second Masters in Special Education from the same university, and a Post Graduate Special Education Professional License treating Learning Disabilities, Emotional Disturbance, ADHD and Autism from Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Education. Her undergraduate degree in Psychology is from Punjab University, Lahore.
Asma’s area of specialty is working with children diagnosed with ADHD, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Emotional Disturbance, as well as with families dealing with the disruptive behaviors that accompany oppositional defiant and conduct disorders. In addition to individual and family therapy, child and family assessments, treatment planning, behavior modifications, and social skills training, she also has lead parenting groups and provided supervision to other therapists and social workers. She has experience working with elementary and secondary teachers, social workers, psychiatrists, pediatricians, and other professionals who interact with children and families dealing with disabilities.
Asma specializes in psycho-educational assessment and administered standardized ability and achievement tests, Informal Reading Assessment (IRA), and interpreted results to determine students’ strengths and areas of need. She offers treatment programs which include cognitive behavior therapy, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), social skills training, and educational therapy. She has trained classroom teachers and/or paraprofessionals in the implementation and documentation of students’ social behavior and academic progress, instructional material, and usage of assistive technology.
Before joining American Center of Neurology and Psychiatry, she was working as an Autism and Intellectual Disability Specialist in the Department of Special Education in Prince William County, Virginia. There, she was managing several self contained classes, providing instructional and behavioral strategies, modifying and designing curriculums, writing IEP’s, and monitored ongoing progress.
